First, in late January, the library upgraded its membership in the North Carolina Digital Library consortium to an “Advantage” account. This makes it possible for us to buy and offer e-books that are available only to our readership, i.e., folks with one of our library cards. Though the consortium has been a good idea, the large number of member libraries (there are 20 that partner with a company called OverDrive to make the consortium possible) has meant long waiting lists for shared titles. This has been a source of user frustration, and the availability of Advantage titles should help to reduce these waiting lists.
